Academy for Learning in Retirement

The Academy for Learning in Retirement (ALR) is a volunteer-run organization whose purpose is to provide meaningful presentations on diverse topics of interest to members of the community. ALR is affiliated with, but not funded by, New Mexico State University (NMSU) through Doña Ana Community College. The programs are presented by NMSU faculty and other experts who are deeply knowledgeable in their fields.

Aerospace Technology

Aerospace Technology includes the construction, testing, and maintenance of aircraft and space-related vehicles. Aerospace technicians may be involved in the assembly, service, testing, operation, and repair of systems associated with dependable and reusable space launch vehicles and related ground support equipment.

Allied Healthcare Assistant

This versatile program has been designed to allow graduates to take advantage of expanding career opportunities available throughout the healthcare system. Options available are: Phlebotomy, Nursing Assistant, Electrocardiogram Technician.

Associate of Arts

Are you undecided about what major to pursue? Does your employer require an associate degree? Are you interested in obtaining a high-quality education at affordable prices? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then the Associate of Arts at Doña Ana Community College may be the answer.

Associate of Science

The Associate of Science degree program is designed to ease transfer to four-year colleges and universities. In most cases, the credits you earn may be applied toward a bachelor’s degree offered at a college or a university such as NMSU.

Automation & Manufacturing Technology

Automation and manufacturing is an evolving, high-tech field, with applications in such areas as aerospace, food processing, and the pharmaceutical industry. It offers some of the highest salaries in the industrial sector, along with ample opportunities for rapid advancement.

Automotive Technology

The automobile has always maintained a steady demand for automotive technicians. Today, automotive service is one of the fastest-growing industries in the nation, and career opportunities are expanding rapidly.



Building Construction Technology

Prepares students to enter the growing construction industry through hands-on education encompassing project management, sustainable (green) building, blueprint reading, use of wood building materials, concrete work, weatherization, masonry, correct use of hand and power tools, safety procedures, math skills, and communication skills to help you work effectively with both colleagues and clients.

Business Management

If you’ve always wanted to work in the fast-paced world of business, the Business Management Program at DACC can be your ticket to success. The need for supervisors and managers in business organizations continues to grow with the economy, and our students are filling those positions. The experience and education you receive through the Business Management Program prepares you to assume those responsibilities.



Career & Life Skills Academy

This one-year program is for adults with intellectual & developmental disabilities, autism, and other neuro-diverse conditions. Students will develop the focus, skills, and confidence to achieve their goals, whether that includes volunteer service, community membership, an entry-level job, skilled trade, professional career, and/or self-employment.

Career Exploration & Job Readiness

DACC Workforce Development and Career Readiness (WDCR) assists DACC students in reaching their full potential and discovering their strengths, career interests, and finding a good career path.

Community Service and Education

Our Community Service Education program is designed to give as many opportunities for Learning and personal enrichment.

Computer Information Technology

The computer industry is continuing to rapidly expand both in our local community and around the world. Many new opportunities exist in a wide variety of work settings. These include software support, hardware repair, network security, information management, consulting, programming, and education/training. Qualified, skilled personnel are in high demand.

Creative Media Technology

Creative Media Technology merges design and digital media into an exciting course of study encompassing various dynamic technologies including print media, web design, multimedia, digital photography, game design, animation, and digital film.

Criminal Justice & Law Enforcement

Our CJLE program brings many options to students in their future careers in this field. With several options ranging from Law Enforcement to Corrections. Each branching out into a variety of opportunities for those wishing to sign up.

Culinary Arts

Train with the experts! Our Culinary Arts Program teams students with American Culinary Federation Certified Chefs who have years of experience as working professionals. In our state-of-the-art laboratories, the program trains chefs, pastry chefs, cooks and bakers for positions in the food service and hospitality field. The program leads to an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in a dynamic and in-demand profession.



Dental Programs

The Dental Programs at Doña Ana Community College consist of both, the Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene programs. Information for each program is provided on the right side under degrees and certifications, program roadmaps, and catalog. The additional information section contains important information about accreditation, specific program information, the application for each program and the link to sign up for a program information session. There is also a link to the Dental Clinic, which is a reduced pricing for most regular services. Check back often for dates and times.

Diagnostic Medical Sonography

A diagnostic medical sonographer is a highly-skilled professional who uses specialized equipment to create and analyze images of anatomical structures inside the body utilizing high-frequency sound waves. These images are used by physicians to make a medical diagnosis.

DACC Workforce Development and Career Readiness offer computer courses for all skill levels.

Drafting & Design Technology

The Drafting and Design Technologies Program prepares students with skills in computer-aided drafting (CAD), Building Information Modeling (BIM) and the theory and concepts to become successful in various drafting-related fields.



Early Childhood Development

Teachers and others working in the field of early childhood education must have strong foundational knowledge in child development theory and demonstrate practical skills while working directly with infants, toddlers, and young children.


The Associate Degree in Education prepares students to transfer into the Teacher Education Program at New Mexico State University, or a similar four-year baccalaureate program at another institution.The Education associate degree program at Doña Ana Community College is designed to prepare students for transfer into the Teacher Education Program (TEP), a baccalaureate program at New Mexico State University. Alternatively, students may opt to transfer to a similar program at another four- year institution. The DACC program includes the lower division courses required for entry into the Teacher Education Program (TEP) at NMSU.

Electrical Programs

DACC’s Electrical Lineworker Program is a one-year pre-apprenticeship certificate program designed to provide students with the technical background and the manual skills necessary for careers in the installation and maintenance of electrical power cables.

Electronics Technology

The explosion in the number and diversity of electronic devices used in home and industrial settings has greatly intensified the demand for qualified technicians. As orders for high-tech communications equipment and electronic products continue to rise, job opportunities for electronics technicians will expand even more.

Emergency Medical Services

Pre hospital emergency medical care is a challenging and exciting profession. People’s lives often depend on the quick reaction and competent care of emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics.

English Language Skills

Environmental & Energy technology

The Environmental and Energy Technologies Program provides students with foundational knowledge related to solar energy technology and solar panel systems, as well as related alternative-energy theory and concepts necessary to become successful in related fields.



Fire Science Technology

Firefighters work in a wide variety of settings, including urban and suburban areas, airports, chemical plants and other industrial sites, and such rural areas as wildlands and forests. When wildland fires break out, crews of firefighters are brought in to suppress the fires with heavy equipment and hand tools, in addition, smoke jumpers parachute into inaccessible areas.



General Engineering

The job market for qualified engineering professionals has entered a new age. Regardless of industry trends and forecasts, one thing remains certain – engineers are an essential component to developing new ideas and furthering the many branches of engineering.



Health Information Technology

Health information technicians are specialists who help to centralize and process all medical records and data that flow through the system. Usually non-clinical in nature, HIT is one of the few health occupations in which there is little or no direct contact with patients...

Heating, Ventilation, Air conditioning & Refrigeration

Every new home, hospital, university building, shopping mall, or office complex requires installation mechanics, service technicians, operating engineers, maintenance foremen, and trained crews to keep complex environmental systems operating efficiently.

Hospitality & Tourism

Travel the world! Or stay right in your hometown. Either way, you’ll have a career that is exciting and rewarding. The types of jobs available in the hospitality and tourism industry vary greatly, as do the settings in which people work. These include resorts, cruise lines, dining and lodging establishments, convention centers, and even health-care facilities.

Hospitality Services Management

Students who earn an associate degree in Hospitality Services Management will have completed a significant part of the first two years of a four-year Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management degree offered by any University, including the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences at NMSU.



Industrial Careers Academy

The Academy focuses on the needs of Santa Teresa and Sunland Park employers and area residents with training for careers in logistics, warehousing, transportation, advanced manufacturing, automation, and next-generation digital skills. Short-term, fast-paced training, taught concurrently with basic skills and English-language skills, ensures entry-level and experienced employees alike earn industry-recognized credentials, earn family-supporting salaries, and advance in their careers.

The Nursing program at DACC affords students the opportunity to become Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Registered Nurses (RN), and members of a respected and rewarding profession. Nursing is a dynamic and exciting discipline offering not only the rewarding experiences of helping others achieve their health care goals, but also enabling the nurse to become a part of the rapidly advancing health delivery system of the future.



Office Administration technology

Because today’s business world is constantly being transformed by new information processing technologies, employment opportunities in office careers are on the rise. The smooth functioning of today’s automated office depends on the support of well-trained administrative, accounting, legal office and medical office assistants.




The Pre-Business Program at DACC is designed to provide students with the fundamentals of business education. Success in the business world requires a specialized set of skills, in addition to knowledge, that builds upon a solid foundation of academic courses. This program offers all that along with dedicated faculty with extensive business experience.

Public Health

The Public Health Program provides the initial course work to prepare students for a career in public health. Public health is a population-based focus to health, with a focus on education, evaluation and policy. Individuals in this field interpret community data to determine health assets and needs develop interventions.



Radiologic Technology

Radiologic Technologists are an important part of the medical team as they perform various radiographic procedures and collect necessary technical data for optimal patient assessment while maintaining safe radiation exposures for both patients and healthcare personnel.

Respiratory Technolgy

Respiratory Therapists play critical roles as members of the health care team in caring for patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. Respiratory therapists provide care for a diverse patient population, from newborns and children to adults and the elderly. Disease states and conditions often requiring respiratory care include asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis, emphysema, heart attack, infant respiratory distress, pneumonia, postoperative surgical complications, shock, stroke and trauma.



SEAB Energy Conservation Code Training

DACC is proud to present Sustainable Education for Advanced Buildings (SEAB) Energy Conservation Code Training in partnership with the New Mexico Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources Division (EMNRD). Two free courses will be offered each semester with an in-person and online option for each course.

Small Business Developement

Whether you own or are thinking about starting a business, the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Doña Ana Community College’s team of professional advisors provide one-on-one confidential consultations at no cost.



Truck Driving Academy

DACC Truck Driving Academy prepares participants to drive a semi-tractor trailer (Class A). Students prepare for the written exam and the driving skills portion as well as topics such as defensive driving, managing resources, trip planning, and vehicle maintenance. The program assists students with employment skills, including resumes, applications, job searches, and job placement.



Water Technology

The Water Technology program is an award-winning, up-to-date technical training opportunity that will open doors to a career anywhere in the United States.

Welding Technology

Welders are in greater demand today than at any time during the past 30 years, and the job outlook is expected to remain excellent throughout the foreseeable future.
