Academy for Learning in Retirement

The Academy for Learning in Retirement (ALR) is a program of educational opportunities of a scholarly nature for learners age 50 or older. It is sanctioned by NMSU and operated under the auspices of Community Education at DACC.

Classes and Activities for Seniors

The City of Las Cruces Senior Programs offer several activities each week for older residents, including classes, get-togethers, fitness activities, and other recreation inside and outdoors.  

DACC Personal Enrichment Courses

DACC offers a variety of credit* and non-credit courses for personal enrichment covering a wide range subjects.

*credit courses require enrollment at DACC, choose non-degree seeking

Senior Citizen Tuition Waiver

In accordance with Statute 5.7.19 NMAC, Reduced Tuition for Senior Citizens, students considered as Senior Citizens are eligible to enroll in classes at NMSU at the reduced tuition rate of $5.00 per credit hour if the following conditions are met:

Student has been admitted to NMSU.

Student is age 65 or older.

  • Student requests the reduced tuition rate.
  • Student is a New Mexico resident.
  • Student is enrolled in 6 or less credits per term.
  • Individuals wishing to receive this reduced rate tuition MAY NOT register for a course before the first day of classes. This registration can only be processed by the University Registrar’s Office. Additional fees associated with enrollment may apply.

Online Community Interest Courses

DACC offers a variety of non-credit courses via our partner, Ed2Go.  Course offerings range from computer classes to sign language courses to art classes, offered completely online and with monthly start dates.  Please visit the Ed2Go catalog for course information and to register.  Contact us at 527-7776 if you need assistance or have questions about online courses.
