Mission Statement

The Virtual Learning & Instructional Technology (VLIT) unit empowers students through innovative, inclusive, and practical technology training that supports success in today's digital learning environment. Through instruction, technology support, digital literacy initiatives, and strategic partnerships, VLIT helps students confidently use academic technologies, develop essential digital skills, and engage successfully in face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses. By promoting responsible technology use, accessibility, and lifelong learning, VLIT prepares students for academic achievement and an increasingly technology-driven world.

Unit Goals

Our goals are to:

  1. Develop Digital Literacy
    Equip students with the digital knowledge and skills needed to succeed academically and professionally.

  2. Promote Technology Readiness
    Prepare students to confidently use institutional technologies including Canvas, Microsoft 365, Outlook, Zoom, and other academic platforms.

  3. Support Student Success
    Reduce technology barriers by providing accessible training, workshops, tutorials, and individualized technology support.

  4. Advance Responsible Technology Use
    Promote ethical AI use, digital citizenship, online safety, accessibility, and responsible participation in digital learning environments.

  5. Foster Lifelong Learning
    Encourage adaptability and continuous learning as technologies evolve in higher education and the workplace.

The Virtual Learning & Instructional Technology (VLIT) team is based at the East Mesa Campus, but we’re here to help wherever you are! Students can connect with us by email, Zoom, or in person at any DACC campus by appointment.
