Creative Media Technology merges design and digital media into an exciting course of study encompassing various dynamic technologies including print media, web design, multimedia, digital photography, game design, animation, and digital film.
The Digital Film degree provides a foundation for students who are looking for professional film industry opportunities in areas in cinematography, production audio, animation, editing, and visual effects.
The Digital Graphics degree emphasizes graphic design, print media, and web design, but can also include fundamentals in animation, multimedia, and digital film.
The Game Development degree provides for a strong foundation in many technical areas in design, game art, animation, and coding.
Students may choose to pursue certificates in specialized areas such as graphic design, web design, video production, game design, animation, and film crew member training and certification.
Educational Pathways There are several transition tracks available that open the way for graduates of the Creative Media and Digital Graphics associate degree programs to continue their education at New Mexico State University or other educational institutions. At NMSU, they may pursue bachelor’s degrees through the Creative Media Institute. Other possibilities include bachelor’s degree programs in information communications technology, art, and individualized studies.
High school students who are interested in a career in creative media are encouraged to take courses in art, photography, English, and mathematics. Remember to consult the DACC Catalog, available online, for more complete information before choosing a program.
