If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then the Associate of Arts at Doña Ana Community College may be the answer.
Individuals who pursue the Associate of Arts degree will have the opportunity to take a variety of courses in the following areas: Communication; Mathematics; Science; Behavioral and Social Sciences; Humanities; and Creative and Fine Arts. The Associate of Arts degree requires completing 60 credit hours following a specific state-approved degree plan. Pursuing an Associate of Arts degree allow students to work on developing skills needed for the job market (e.g., communication and critical thinking).
The Associate of Arts degree is designed to allow ease of transfer to four-year colleges and universities. In most cases, the credits you earn may be applied toward a bachelor’s degree offered at a college or a university such as NMSU. The courses completed for the Associate of Arts are typical in line with the general education requirements of a four-year institution.
The Associate of Arts offers the opportunity to explore courses in different areas to determine your area of interest should you decide to pursue a bachelor’s degree. Additionally, the Associate of Arts degree prepares you for entry-level job positions and is affordable. Due to Doña Ana Community College offering flexible schedules, you can pursue an Associate of Arts degree while working part-time or full-time.
You will learn from expert instructors in small classes where individual attention is highly valued. The college offers well-equipped laboratories and classrooms.

Students find the learning environment at Doña Ana Community College to be stimulating and supportive, as well as flexible. You can select from traditional classes and/or alternative formats, such as online, evening, weekend, and accelerated classes. High school students may qualify to participate in our dual-enrollment program and begin earning credit toward an associate degree while simultaneously satisfying the requirements for high school graduation.
In addition to small class sizes, excellent instructors, and affordable tuition, Doña Ana Community College offers free tutoring in a wide variety of areas, one-on-one advising, free career and counseling services, and financial aid, including opportunities for private scholarships.
The Associate of Arts degree allows students to complete many of the general education requirements for a bachelor’s degree while still at Doña Ana Community College. Students should take electives that apply toward the requirements of their chosen bachelor’s degree.
REQUIREMENTS: C- or above is required in all relative courses to graduate
