Online Course Template

The DACC Course Template contains the fundamental components for a quality online course based on the Quality Matters Course Design Rubric. All pages in this template course are accessible, easy to modify and display well on student laptops or hand-held devices.

The Structure of the Course Template

The template consists of two modules for importing into your Canvas course and establishing a course structure and design. Modules are units that break down learning objectives into specific topics and time frames. They are used to create logical and easy navigation for both students and instructors.

The two modules in this template include:

1. Module 0: Getting Started provides the first steps for students beginning the course. This course orientation provides general information for beginning the course, instructions on how to navigate the course, and introductions between students and the instructor. This module should be modified to contain information relevant to each course. Activities can also be added in addition to the student introductions such as Syllabus Quiz, Syllabus Scavenger Hunt, etc.

2. Module 1: This module demonstrates the organization and design that should continue throughout the course. This design provides a solid structure that should be repeated to provide consistency. Assignment placement and usage (assignment page, discussion, and quiz) should be modified by the instructor as needed.
