Radiologic Technology

Respiratory Therapy
  • Effectively review, interpret, and apply patient medical record data to assess respiratory status, develop appropriate treatment plans, and ensure the delivery of safe and effective respiratory care.
  • Demonstrate the ability to systematically collect, analyze, and evaluate relevant clinical information to support accurate patient assessment, effective treatment planning, and optimal patient outcomes in respiratory care.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in performing systematic respiratory assessments using inspection, palpation, percussion, and auscultation to identify abnormal findings, guide clinical decision-making, and optimize patient care
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform vital sign checks, such as respiratory rate, blood pressure, SpO2, and heart rate through means of different equipment.
  • Develop the ability to systematically assess and interpret key patient indicators related to respiratory health, including level of consciousness, emotional state, level of pain, dyspnea, and sputum production.
  • Devolp the ability to assess a patient’s learning needs related to respiratory therapy by identifying knowledge gaps, barriers to learning, and individualized educational strategies
  • Develop the knowledge and skills necessary to perform essential respiratory therapy procedures safely and effectively. This includes assessing patient respiratory status, administering therapeutic interventions such as oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and mechanical ventilation, and ensuring proper equipment usage and maintenance. Emphasis will be placed on patient-centered care, clinical decision-making, and adherence to professional and ethical standards in respiratory therapy practice.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the application, interpretation, and integration of non-invasive monitoring technologies including electrocardiography (ECG), transcutaneous monitoring, pulse oximetry (POx), and capnography to assess cardiopulmonary status and guide respiratory care interventions.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and judgment required to maintain a patent airway, including the assessment, insertion, management, and care of natural and artificial airways across diverse patient populations.
  • Recommend procedures to obtain lung mechanics e.g., compliance, airway resistance, blood gas analysis, and transcutaneous monitoring.
  • Perform equipment manipulation, infection control, and quality control with regards to Respiratory Therapy.
