Frequenlty Asked Questions

DACC to NMSU Pathways FAQs

How does the Pathway work?

DACC students interested in an NMSU–Las Cruces bachelor’s degree will work with their DACC academic advisor to identify as a Pathway participant and plan/register for courses.

Some Pathways follow a 2+2 model: two years at DACC + two years at NMSU. Others use a Co-Enrollment model, where students take DACC and NMSU classes during the first two years before fully transitioning to NMSU.

Your advisor will guide you based on the requirements of your chosen major.

What degree will I earn at DACC while on the Aggie Pathway?

Depending on the bachelor’s degree requirements, students will major in one of the following:

  • Associate of Science
  • Associate of Arts
  • Associate of Pre-Business
  • Another transferrable associate degree
Who can participate in the Pathways?

Any DACC degree-seeking student can participate. Speak with your DACC academic advisor for details.

When can I join a Pathway?

You may join at any time, though starting in the fall semester is ideal due to course sequencing.

Why should I join an Aggie Pathway?

Pathways provide efficient, coordinated structure to help you stay on track toward earning your bachelor’s degree at NMSU–Las Cruces. The goal is to help students graduate as quickly as possible.

Students who earn an associate degree along the way are up to 18% more likely to complete a bachelor's degree compared to peers who skip the associate degree.

Do I need to apply separately to NMSU?

No. During your final DACC semester, your advisor will help you complete the NMSU Change of Campus Request Form and connect with the NMSU Aggie Pathway Advisor.

Will all my DACC credits transfer to NMSU?

Yes. All DACC coursework transfers fully to NMSU–Las Cruces. All NMSU system campuses share the same transcript.

Because many degrees have specific requirements, follow the Catalog Pathways and consult your advisor if you have questions about substitutions or transfer credit.

What if I change my major while on a Pathway?

Changing your major may affect course sequencing and time to degree. Always check with your academic advisor before making changes.

How are tuition and fees handled?

You are charged based on the campus offering the course:

  • DACC courses → DACC tuition + Books 4 Less fee
  • NMSU courses → NMSU tuition and fees

Students are considered full-time DACC students during the first two years and full-time NMSU students during the final two years, though most Pathways include NMSU courses early on.

How does financial aid work in the Pathways?

Students may qualify for NM Lottery and Opportunity Scholarships at both DACC and NMSU. All Pathway courses are financial aid-eligible.

Federal Pell Grants are also available to qualified students. Work closely with your advisor to ensure all requirements are met.
