Meet DACC’s Student Success
Strategy Subgroups
The Student Success Strategy Team is a dedicated group of DACC faculty and staff whose mission is to support initiatives that promote student success. Our partnership with Achieving the Dream motivates our commitment to our students by focusing our efforts in removing the barriers to education that some of our students face. Through innovative and data-driven approaches to achieve our mission.
The Student Success Strategy Team comprises of three subgroups that work on independent initiatives: Communication, Data, and the Student Services.

Our Subgroups
Communication
The Communications Subgroup is responsible for communicating the work of the AtD Student Success Team to achieve broad college engagement. For example, they have led efforts to integrate the Student Success Vision Statement into the college's fabric, publicizing it internally and externally to students, staff, faculty, and the community.
This group invites faculty and staff to take advantage of the professional development activities and resources available through the AtD network. They also help develop the Student Success Team’s overarching goals, coordinate and/or participate in student success efforts and interventions in collaboration with other campus groups, and identify and celebrate successes.
Data
The Data Subgroup’s primary functions are to:
- Use quantitative and qualitative data to guide student success work
- Call for and use disaggregated data to promote data equity and transparency
- Compile and analyze data to identify student success issues
- Take the lead in establishing protocols for assessment and evaluation of all student success efforts.
This group has organized DACC’s annual Data Gallery Walk, which encourages units across the college to showcase their data-driven assessment or decision-making through a poster session. They have also been integral to planning the college’s Data Summits, working closely with our AtD data coach to ensure such events are meaningful and productive for the college.
Student Services
The Student Services Subgroup adopts promising practices that move the needle on recruitment, admissions, orientation, registration, and graduation. They plan activities, events, or campaigns that focus on student success and breaking down barriers for students. For example, to encourage parents/guardians of enrolled students to pursue their own education at DACC, they hosted a family enrollment night to provide information on DACC programs and opportunities.
They have collaborated with Adult Education to hold writing workshops for students preparing for the writing portion of the GED exam. They have collaborated with other units on campus to reach various student populations, such as holding English Language Learner workshops and increasing marketing for the Academic Readiness Center (tutoring) among Adult Education students.
