Biography
Maria Torres teaches Developmental Writing, Composition, Professional and Technical Writing, and Creative Writing. She earned her MFA from Boston University and her BA from Sul Ross State University and completed the Developmental Education Specialist certificate program through the Kellogg Institute in 2016. She also serves on the Online Quality Assurance Team, supporting faculty in the development of high-quality online courses.
As a founding member of Border Theatre, Maria has long been passionate about storytelling, creativity, and the power of language. She entered teaching because she loves learning and believes education should be accessible and supportive. Although reading and writing have always been among her favorite pursuits, she understands that they are not everyone's strengths or favorite subjects. Her goal is to help students find their own path to success and confidence as learners and writers.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her dogs and getting to know all the dogs in her neighborhood.
