Biography
I’m Federico Almarez and I was born in San Bernardino, California, to Don Ramiro and Dona Lena Almarez. I did most of my growing up in Sacramento, California, where I received a B.A. in Anthropology with a focus on Archaeology in 1985. After 20 years in archaeology in the southwest, I made a switch in careers and began teaching English here as an adjunct instructor before going back to school. I graduated in 2016 from New Mexico State University with a Master’s in Rhetoric and Professional Communication, and in 2018 I came onboard as a full- time instructor. I teach General Composition, Composition I, and Writing in the Humanities. I really enjoy my experience here and love working with our students and my colleagues, and helping my students learn more about themselves as we explore the writing process. It is truly amazing to be part of something so special as our department. For enjoyment I love to jam on my guitar, write songs and poetry, and hang out with my best buddy, my dachshund puppy BoBo.
