Health Sciences Scholarships

  • Dental Hygiene Scholarship
    • Established to support students pursuing a degree in Dental Hygiene
      • NM high school graduate or obtained NM GED
      • Admitted into Dental Hygiene Program and in the last year of study
      • GPA of 3.5 or better
  • Lisa K. Erickson Memorial Health Sciences Scholarship
    • Established in 2017. This scholarship is in honor of Lisa K. Erickson, who was a science teacher at Oñate High School. She died at age 57 in 2016 from a rare, incurable neurological disorder called Creutzfeldt­Jakob Disease. Ms. Erickson was a kind and gentle soul who truly cared about her students. She regularly taught biology, anatomy/physiology, and medical terminology. These courses were often taken by students preparing for careers in the health sciences. Many of Ms. Erickson's students went on to pursue studies at Dona Ana Community College. This scholarship fund may be eligible for matching funds from the earnings of the Jon Wynne Endowment at the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico.
      • Must be a full time student enrolled at Dofia Ana Community College
      • Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.6
      • Must be a graduate of Oft.ate High School
      • Must be student with a declared intention to pursue a major leading to professional credentials in a health field as evidenced by a statement of Educational and Career Goals on the scholarship application
  • John Sutter Memorial Endowed Scholarship
    • Established in 2010 for students working toward an Associate’s of Applied Science Degree.
      • declared major in either Emergency Medical Services or Fire Science Technology
      • maintain a minimum GPA 3.2
      • First preference to students who participated in Public Safety Volunteer Programs or high school EXCEL programs
  • Southwest District Dental Society Endowed Scholarship
    • Established in 2004 by Southwest District Dental Society for students working for an Associate Degree in the Dental Assisting Program and Endowed in 2011
      • Must be a full-time dental hygiene or Dental Assisting student
      • Must have a GPA of 2.5 or better
      • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by official FAFSA results
      • Preference for student from Catron, Grant, Hidalgo, Luna , Otero, and Sierra Counties
      • Secondary preference for students from Doña Ana County
  • Stafford Family Scholarship
    • Established in 2003 for students working for an Associate Degree in Nursing.
      • GPA 3.0
      • Resident of Doña Ana County
  • Tiny Faye Jones Endowed Scholarship
    • Established in 2011 for students pursuing a degree in Allied Health Professions or Nursing at DACC.
      • Must be enrolled part-time or more
      • minimum GPA 2.5
      • Working for a career in healthcare
      • Preference to students who serve or have served as Certified Nursing Assistants in the Good Samaritan Society – Las Cruces Village
  • Respiratory Therapy Program Scholarship (DACC)
    • Established in 2018, this scholarship is completely determined and awarded through and by Health Sciences.
