Several students from Doña Ana Community College (DACC) received high marks at a national competition last month.
Eight DACC students recently competed and placed high at the national SkillsUSA competition held in Atlanta, Georgia in June. The students earned 4th, 5th, 8th, 10th and 22nd place at the national competition out of more than 7,000 competitors. These students received first place at the state SkillsUSA competition held in March, which qualified them to represent New Mexico at the national competition.
The competitors were:
- Gael Lugo, architectural drafting
- Julien Beltran, information technology services
- Estevan Smith, internetworking
- David Deal, technical computer applications
- Luis Velasco & Thomas Tucker, cybersecurity
- Ricardo Morales, sheet metal
- Chioma Abed-Amazu, computer programming
