Parents and caregivers of young children are invited to register for an upcoming free program to assist them with their future.
The AVANCE to College program offers upcoming classes at the DACC Sunland Park Center to help parents and caregivers strengthen parenting skills, explore leadership opportunities, and/or begin a journey toward college or career success. Classes begin August 20th, with the entire course being two semesters at the Sunland Park Center, 3365 McNutt Rd., in Sunland Park, NM. Registration can be found at this link here.
Participants will be connected to the educational process, focus on building strong family bonds, nurturing existing strengths, and being empowered with tools for lifelong learning. In addition, they will be able to explore college and career opportunities and build a professional resume, cover letter and other skills. At the conclusion of the program, participants and their children will be honored with a graduation ceremony.
“The truly fantastic and wonderful thing about this program is the opportunity to reconnect with yourself and with your children,” says Abigail Pacheco, AVANCE graduate. “By coming here, we are shifting patterns and behaviors for the betterment of our children.”
This past academic year, five participants graduated from the program, including Pacheco. They and their families were recognized at a graduation celebration on May 19th at the Sunland Park Center.
