Sonography Program Rated Nationally

The Dona Ana Community College (DACC) Ultrasound Technology (Diagnostic Medical Sonography) program has been named one of the top two-year programs in the nation by the Community for Accredited Online Schools (CAOS).

The community college program ranks 35th in the nation for the 2016-2017 school year. In order for colleges to qualify for nomination they must be nationally accredited, “offer an excellent educational experience, uphold rigorous accreditation standards and show a commitment to student success,” said Doug Jones, CEO and Founder of CAOS.

The Associate of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) is a highly sought after degree at DACC. A diagnostic medical sonographer uses specialized equipment to create and analyze images of anatomical structures inside the body utilizing high-frequency sound waves. These images are used by physicians to make a medical diagnosis.

“We are grateful for this honor,” said DMS Director Darla Mathew. “It is a result of our great students, faculty and staff’s hard work.”
