Montes to attend leadership conference

Doña Ana Community College student David Montes is one of only 75 students from across the nation selected to participate in the American Society of Radiologic Technology Student Leadership Development Program. The Society represents more than 152,000 members who perform medical imaging procedures or deliver radiation therapy treatment.

According to Anja Cox, program director at the DACC radiological technology program, “David Montes is an outstanding student,” she said. “He will be graduating this May with a 4.0 grade point average and will represent our college well at the American Society of Radiologic Technologist Leadership Development Program.”

A Ruidoso native, Montes, 42, is a non-traditional student who came to DACC for a career change. After working in the banking industry for 22 years, he made the move to Las Cruces to enter the Radiological program. He has also earned a General Studies Degree while in Las Cruces. He is a Crimson Scholar and credits support from his family, friends, faculty and peers for his success.

Montes will travel to Orlando, Florida to attend the program, June 26-29. He will be assigned a mentor and attend educational courses specifically designed for students. In addition he will have the opportunity to network with radiology leaders, and students, and be part of the House of Delegates meeting.
