Mendoza Art Reception to be Held at DACC

The DACC Art Committee will hold an art reception featuring local artist George Mendoza whose work “Colors of the Wind” will be displayed in and around the Mezzanine area in building DAEM outside the President’s office.

Also highlighted will be art from students in Professor Abby Osborne’s Digital Graphics Technology class. DACC Instructor Ouida Touchon will demonstrate the tools and techniques students use to create art in her classes.

The Artist Reception will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 4:30 – 6:00 PM, 2800 Sonoma Ranch Blvd, Building DAEM.

As part of the Artist’s Reception, the DACC Art Committee is raffling an original Royce Rein 22” x 30” watercolor (matted and framed). Several other artworks will be sold during the opening reception through a silent auction: a watercolor landscape and a gouache portrait by Royce Rein, an original print by Ouida Touchon, two autographed books by George Mendoza, and a hand-crafted silver bracelet by Bobbie Hutson.  All proceeds will benefit the DACC Permanent Art Collection Endowment Fund.

Raffle tickets for the Royce Rein watercolor will be available at the reception and are just $1 each or 6 for $5. The Art Endowment is invaluable in providing accessible art to the entire DACC community. For this show two patrons have pledged to donate $500 as a match to other funds for a total of $1,000 to the endowment.

The music will be provided by the quartet from the J. Paul Taylor Academy with director Ray Arreola. The reception will also have light hors d’oeuvres served by DACC Culinary Arts students. Pictured are several photos of Mr. Mendoza’s work.
