The event will be held on Friday, October 25th at noon at the facility located at 2400 Film Street in New Mexico State University’s (NMSU) Arrowhead Park. New Mexico Higher Education Department Secretary Stephanie Rodriguez is scheduled to attend.
This ceremony will officially kick off the building’s opening which broke ground in March of 2023. The CMT building is a 14,000 square foot facility complete with classrooms, a commons area and a 4,000 square foot soundstage.
This state-of-the-art facility is a mixed-use space for students in the DACC ARTS Department pursuing careers in film, animation, game design and virtual production. DACC’s building is the first of many buildings to be completed as part of the Las Cruces Creative Campus, a digital media complex. The campus will be a collaboration of facilities to include a new $15 million soundstage by the New Mexico Economic Development Department and New Mexico State University’s Creative Media Institute (CMI) building.
The CMT grand opening celebration will be held in conjunction with the annual 10x25 conference that will begin at 2 p.m. at the facility. The 10x25 event celebrates creativity, education, entrepreneurship and innovation. The theme of this year’s conference is, “Where Innovation and Creativity Meet”. The conference will offer special performances by Julian Alexander, a Las Cruces native and educator, performer and filmmaker; Asiah Thomas-Mandlman, also a Las Cruces native who is a visual performer and vocal artist; and Dark Circles, a contemporary dance company.
The conference will also feature keynote speeches from creative leaders, panel discussions and networking opportunities. More information on the conference can be found at www.10x25.com.
