Francisco Zuniga was born in Juarez, raised in El Paso, and move to the Las Cruces area in 2011 when he married a local lady. With a background in construction, he began taking classes at DACC in January of 2020, a few weeks before we shut down for the Covid-19 pandemic. Already a skilled carpenter, he was looking for ways to expand his knowledge and bolster his income. By joining the Building Construction Technology Program, run by Kevin Gall on the Workforce Campus, he began along a path to success.
In December of 2022, Francisco graduated with an Associates of Applied Science for Building Construction Technology. Along the way he also earned certificates in Plumbing, Electrical, Green Technology, and Energy Auditing.
When asked what he personally took away from the program, Francisco responded, “I loved the blue print class, it’s been really valuable to learn how to do take-offs on material. Also plumbing, Derris (Greene) was a great teacher”.
He is currently studying for his Contractor’s License which he hopes to accomplish by summer. He’s already set up Naviz LLC (named for is daughters Natalia and Victoria), and plans to use his new license to open up a roofing business.
