Neeta Shukla

Neeta Shukla was born and raised in India, in a small town called Shahdol. She has a BS in Veterinary Science and an MA in Professional Technical Education. Neeta worked as a veterinary surgeon in India for 3 years before moving to Vienna, Austria. In Vienna, she worked as a veterinarian in Tullen Research Institute on embryo transfer technology. She moved to Las Cruces in 2005 and attained her Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene from DACC in 2009. Since graduating from DACC, Neeta has been working full-time at Ben Archer Health Center as a dental hygienist. She has also taught multiple classes at DACC, including Dental Anatomy and Public Health.

Neeta has participated in numerous community projects, including Mission of Mercy, and conducting oral health screenings in elementary schools throughout Las Cruces.  She has also organized “Mission Vision and Smile” in which a team of medical professionals travel to rural India and provide free healthcare, including free eye, and dental check-ups. Neeta’s husband, Manoj, is a Professor and Global Programs Coordinator at the College of Agriculture at NMSU. She has 2 sons; the elder son, Utkarsh is in residency at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, and her younger son Amogh just started his first semester at UNM in the Combined BA/MD program. Neeta’s hobbies include riding horses, cooking, and giving her time to her community.
