Carlos Navarrete

Following 19 years in the grocery store business, starting at entry level and working his way to produce manager, Mr. Navarette decided to attend college to enter a profession he was more interested in. He started the computer-aided drafting program in 1992 and obtained his first, career-related job after just one year, working for Underwood Engineering, where he worked while finishing his degree at then “Dona Ana Branch Community College”. Upon graduation from DACC, he remained at Underwood Engineering for 11 years. He and Mr. Underwood were instrumental in bringing land development practice and local government offices into the digital age in the area of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

In 2003, he started his own design and Construction Plan Coordination business: Nava Tech Inc., which he continues to own and manage. His business is responsible for the development of production drawings in cooperation with various local design professionals, and his projects include many commercial, residential, multifamily, and related buildings, many of which are of multi-million

dollar value. His employees over the years have mostly come from the DACC Architectural Technology and Civil/Survey Technology programs.

Beneficiaries of his generous, community service include the Mesilla Valley Habitat for Humanity, Big Brother Big Sister, the March of Dimes, Lions Clubs, and Aprendamos Child Development. He has provided free design services to these organizations, as well as others.
