Maurice was born in Hoboken, New Jersey, and moved to Las Cruces in 2011. He graduated from DACC in 2014 and went on to earn a Bachelor Degree from New Mexico State University (NMSU) and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California, specializing in aging adult mental health.
A long-time volunteer, Maurice began volunteering around age seven in his community offering yard services to the elderly regardless of their ability to pay. His belief in giving back to his community has continued. Currently, he serves on the New Mexico Substitute Care Review Board which monitors children who are in foster care and makes recommendations to the state about the foster care system. In addition to the Substitute Care Review Board, Maurice works with: Mesilla Valley Hospice, La Posada Assisted Living Facility, and the “Toss No Mas” campaign which helps beautify the city.
