In 1985 Martin Alvarez was awarded the outstanding graduate from the Doña Ana Community College Radiologic Technology program.

In the subsequent years Martin has given of his time to many outstanding causes.  He has volunteered for many different programs such as NMSU’s Junior LPGA golf team, and football program.  Giving of his time is nothing new to Martin, he had coached youth basketball, soccer and baseball in Las Cruces.  Martin has been an officer with the NMSRT (Radiology Society) for the past several years, starting his leadership role in 1999 as the Annual Chairman of the NMSRT Conference and again as Co-Chair in 2008.  Martin is the Treasurer of the Woodman of the World, a life insurance organization that gives charitable contributions of both time and money to those in need.  They have donated the 911 Memorial Flag to the City of Las Cruces that will be displayed at City Hall, honoring the individuals that lost their lives on that day. Other charities include Safehaven Animal Shelter, and sponsoring for Police Officer training.  Martin is still involved in the Community College thru his position on the Advisory Council for the Radiology and Ultrasound programs.  Currently Martin is the Director of the Imaging Center of Las Cruces, and has held that position since 2004.
