As a professional educational program, the Nursing Program is a limited-entry program. To be considered for admission, students are required to successfully complete 1) all prerequisites, 2) the designated entrance exam, and 3) the student selection process. The degree plan credit hours of nursing course work for an LPN to RN Applicant will vary from student to student depending on where the student enters the program. Space availability is a condition of acceptance.

Steps to Application

  1. ADMISSION TO THE COLLEGE

Gain admission to Dona Ana Community College. Admission to the college does not guarantee admission into the nursing program. All transcripts need to be on file with the admissions office.

  1. MEET MINIMUM GPA AND PREREQUISITE REQUIREMENTS

Complete all seven prerequisite courses with a minimum grade point average of 2.75. Each prerequisite class must have a grade of “C” or better. The grade received on first passing will be used for calculating the admission GPA. Anatomy & Physiology I and Anatomy & Physiology II classes completed more than seven years prior to admission to the program will not be accepted for credit. A nursing program academic advisor will need to complete the GPA calculation. Applicants are encouraged to have their GPA calculated PRIOR to registering for the entrance exam.

*See Student Handbook for list of courses used for GPA Ranking. First passing grade for prerequisite courses will be used for ranking.

  1. PROGRAM LEVEL EVALUATION

A program level evaluation is needed to determine placement into the nursing program at DACC. This must be completed by the required deadline. Official copies of all nursing transcripts will need to be turned in to DACC Admissions Office.

  1. PN-ADN MOBILITY EXAM

Information can be found below on how to register. A Nursing Advisor is available for any registration questions. Students are encouraged to complete the exam BEFORE completing the remainder of the application requirements. Students are also encouraged to secure a seat at Prometric as soon as possible. Seats will fill up quickly. Please make sure you register for the correct exam as there are multiple entrance exams occurring during a testing period. The DACC Nursing Program is not responsible for testing issues with EVOLVE or Prometric.

  1. COMPLETE APPLICATION PAPERWORK

Application paperwork can be obtained below.  If you have any questions, please contact a nursing advisor.  Only complete applications will be accepted.

  • Clinical Documentation Requirements — Please check this page for Background Forms and Instructions. Immunizations, TB, DUI Screen, CPR, and Drug Screen are due upon program acceptance. Some immunizations require multiple injections. Some students may need to start working on immunizations now. If you need your CPR certification, please plan accordingly.
