Welcome to the Nursing Program at Doña Ana Community College

COVID-19 Information and Updates

Notice: Doña Ana Community College spring semester starts January 25, 2021.

The DACC Nursing Program was recently featured in Best Nursing Programs! Our LPN Program was ranked #38 in the nation, while our RN Program was ranked #6 in the state of New Mexico!

We are pleased that you have chosen to study nursing and are delighted to have the opportunity to assist in achieving the academic and personal goals of each student. This is an exciting and challenging time to prepare for entry into the practice of nursing. Students are encouraged to work diligently toward their goals to find personal and career fulfillment.

The Nursing program at DACC affords students the opportunity to become Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Registered Nurses (RN), and members of a respected and rewarding profession. Nursing is a dynamic and exciting discipline offering not only the rewarding experiences of helping others achieve their health care goals, but also enabling the nurse to become a part of the rapidly advancing health delivery system of the future.

Trimesters Announcement:

Dear students, this is to inform you that there will be an implementation of trimester scheduling for nursing beginning summer 2021. Trimester scheduling will affect every student in the DACC nursing program, unless you are scheduled to graduate from the program spring 2021. All nursing students will enter into trimester scheduling summer 2021. The trimester scheduling has been approved by DACC, New Mexico Board of Nursing, and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Due to COVID-19 the implementation scheduled for summer 2020 was re-scheduled for launch summer 2021.

Summer trimester will begin May 24, 2021 and end August 20, 2021. Fall trimester will begin August 30 and end December 10, 2021. Spring trimester will begin January 10, 2022 April 22, 2022.  The trimester scheduling will shorten the length of instructional weeks from to 13 weeks in the summer and 14 weeks in the fall and spring, so you will see a slight increase in the amount of time for each class, e.g. 3 credit – 3 hours per week will be 3 hours and 25 minutes per week. This is to ensure that all required instruction is completed in the allotted time.

Note that DACC and NMSU will not be on trimester scheduling, and courses offered at both of these locations e.g. English, Math will still follow the traditional 15 instructional week semester.

DACC financial aide is aware of trimester implementation, and there shouldn’t be any problems with financial aid awards. You can contact financial aide services to set up appointment to discuss further @ https://dacc.nmsu.edu/fa/

We look forward to expanding and growing the nursing program, as the trimester scheduling will allow an additional cohort of students admitted every year.

If trimester scheduling changes due to COVID or other issues outside of our control, we will let you know as soon as possible.
