Doña Ana Community College (DACC) will hold an open house at all facilities for new students and their families to help acclimate to college. “The first days of college can be a little overwhelming for students not used to higher education,” said Health Sciences Division Dean and committee chair Josie Carmona. “These open houses will help them find their way around, learn of available resources, meet faculty, students and staff and enjoy some popcorn and paletas. The events will be held just before school begins on August 21.” The schedule for the events are:
Monday, August 19
Chaparral Center, 755 Prescott Anthony Drive, Chaparral, NM 10 am -noon
Gadsden Center, 1700 E. O’Hara Road, Anthony, NM 1 pm – 3 pm
Sunland Park Center, 3365 McNutt Road, Sunland Park, NM 4 pm – 6 pm
Tuesday, August 20
Workforce Center, 2345 E. Nevada Ave., Las Cruces 10 am – noon
East Mesa Campus, 2800 Sonoma Ranch Blvd., Las Cruces 1 pm – 3 pm
Espina Campus, 3400 South Espina St., Las Cruces 4 pm – 6 pm
The open houses will feature popcorn from Crazy Mazies and paletas from one of DACC’s distinguished alumni, Sylvia Terrazas of Paleteria La Reyna Michoacana.
DACC administrators, representatives from student clubs, faculty and staff will also attend. Special guests at the final event at the Espina Campus include Pistol Pete, several of the New Mexico State University (NMSU) cheerleaders and other NMSU student groups.
DACC’s Workforce Center will host an open house for their event and invites the community to attend.
Giveaways for family and students will be held at each event including the chance for new students to win an iPad Mini from the Barnes and Noble at NMSU/DACC. To register for the event please RSVP to email@example.com
