Manufacturing Day at Workforce

To inspire the next generation of manufacturers, Manufacturing Day is a nationwide celebration highlighting modern manufacturing careers to help fill skilled labor shortages. During the day companies and educational institutions open their doors to students, parents, teachers and community leaders.

This year’s event takes place on Friday at the Doña Ana Community College Workforce Center, home to the Aerospace, Engineering and Manufacturing departments and the equipment they use in classes including, lasers, 3D printers, CNC wood routers and high speed CNC hass machining.

Participants will see hands-on demonstrations of all the high-tech equipment.

The public is welcome to attend. Participants will see the fascinating projects produced by students and staff. The tour of facilities is more like an open house with a show-and-tell element. Staff will be on hand to show guests around the space. Several students and staff will explain projects they have been working on.

The Open House is from 9:00-11:30 am and 1:00-3:00 pm on Friday, October 25 at 2345 Nevada Avenue in Las Cruces. An adult must accompany children. Eye protection is available, if necessary, and participants need to wear closed-toe shoes. To pre-register for the event go to:  mfgday@newmexicomep.org
