Extended Hours for Fall Announced

Doña Ana Community College (DACC) Vice-President for Student Services Ike Ledesma today announced extended hours for the East Mesa and Espina Campuses so students can more easily register for fall classes.

From July 29 to August 30, 2019 several DACC offices will be open until 7 pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for “Happy to Help Hours.”

“We want the community to know we are open for business and will stay open several hours on selected days to help students register for classes, get advised, find financial assistance or address any issue they may have,” Ledesma said. “We understand that people who may be working may need the option of registering later in the day.”

Offices that will remain open during the hours include admissions, academic advising, the cashier, financial aid, the information center and student accessibility services.

This fall there are several new classes offered to address needs in the community. Students will have the opportunity to earn certifications in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Quickbooks and Outlook.

“This year’s catalog features 44 associate degrees,” Ledesma said. “We have a major that is right for any student starting their career or wanting to return to school to improve their qualifications. For those wishing to enter the workforce faster, there are 55 certificates in a wide variety of majors.”

Four new Associate of Applied Science degrees will have their first graduating class this fall. The degrees include, Cybersecurity, Building Technology Construction, Game Development and Medical Assisting.

“Oftentimes people may feel unsure about going to college,” Ledesma said. “We have supportive programs that will help students overcome barriers in their academic careers and help them succeed.”

The Gadsden Center, 1700 East Ohara Road, Anthony, NM and Sunland Park Center 3365 McNutt Road, Sunland Park, NM will also be open until 6 pm to help students from the southern part of Doña Ana County. The East Mesa Campus is located at 2800 Sonoma Ranch Blvd. and the Espina Campus is located at 3400 S. Espina St.
