DACC Hosts Rank Choice Voting Sessions

Doña Ana Community College (DACC) will host two informational sessions on Ranked Choice Voting (RCV). The discussion will center on how it works in this year’s ten-candidate mayoral election on November 5.

According to Ballotpedia, RCV is, “an electoral system in which voters rank candidates by their preference on their ballots.” The system ensures a victorious candidate has more than 50% of the vote. As of this year, nine states have counties or jurisdictions that use RCV.

The community college will team with the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce to present information on RCV. Caroline Zamora from the Chamber and Aprendamos will present the information.

The first session is on the East Mesa campus on October 17 in the Auditorium at 2 pm. The second scheduled on the Espina Campus on October 24 is in DASH 77 at 2 pm. The public is encouraged to attend.
