CTE Month Celebrated at DACC

Career Technical Education (CTE) Month® and SkillsUSA is celebrated at Doña Ana Community College (DACC) throughout the month of February with tours, job fairs, competitions and educational workshops for local high school and DACC students.

DACC hosted students from the Gadsden Independent School District and the Hatch Valley School District in a series of educational tours and presentations about CTE opportunities. CTE is education that directly prepares students for high-wage, high demand careers.

On February 1st, 67 students and 13 instructors visited the DACC East Mesa Campus and learned about the many CTE programs offered at that campus.  On February 8th, 119 students and 13 instructors visited the DACC Espina campus and learned about CTE programs offered there.  The students from Gadsden and Hatch also attended presentations by Admissions and Financial Aid.  Participating DACC programs included:

According to the U.S. Department of Education, New Mexico served 56,895 CTE postsecondary students in the 2016-2017 school year.  Ninety-eight percent of New Mexico CTE postsecondary students met performance goals for technical skills.

SkillsUSA is a national professional student organization integral to career technical education programs and has a significant presence at DACC. The nonprofit partnership of students, instructors and industry representatives ensures America has the skilled workforce it needs to stay competitive.
