The Doña Ana Community College (DACC) Art Committee will hold an artist reception featuring Las Cruces artist Meg Freyermuth, whose landscape paintings are currently on display in the Mezzanine of the main building at the East Mesa Campus.
The Artist’s Reception will be held on Friday, March 15, 2019 from 4:30 – 6:00 pm at 2800 Sonoma Ranch Blvd, Building DAEM.
As part of the Artist’s Reception, the DACC Art Committee will have several artworks and other items available for silent auction. All proceeds will benefit the DACC Permanent Art Collection Endowment Fund and art projects around the campuses and centers.
Freyermuth is a 2009 graduate of New Mexico State University with a focus in drawing and painting and a minor in Art History. Since 2005 she has had numerous solo and group shows in New Mexico and the Southwest.
In 2015, Freyermuth was selected as the first Artist-In-Residence for the Organ Mountain-Desert National Monument, a program which highlights public lands through art. Freyermuth works to bring attention to the importance of environmental conservation, historical preservation, and access to art in her community.
The pieces in this exhibit are selected from the last two years of Freyermuth’s work, and display the artist’s recurring interest with the landscapes of Doña Ana County.
Also highlighted will be art from students in Professor Abby Osborne’s Digital Graphics Technology class. Several ceramic pieces will be also be displayed from Professor Glenn Schwaiger’s Ceramic Classes.
