Medical Assistants function alongside physicians in a clinical setting such as outpatient clinics and physician offices. Medical Assistants have a variety of job duties that range anywhere from administrative work to clinical skills. Prerequisites for this course include BIOL 154 Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology OR BIO 225 & 226 as well as CNA, PCT and EKG. However, it is recommended that you complete ENGL 111 and AHS 120 Medical Terminology in addition to these prerequisites. Upon successfully completing the program, the student is eligible to take the National Healthcareer Association examination to become nationally certified as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA). The student will also graduate with their Associate of Applied Science in Medical Assisting Degree.
