Pre-Application Requirements

 

In addition to pre-requisite course work, applicants need to be mindful of the requirements listed on this page and allow adequate time to complete these requirements before the application deadline.

All necessary application forms and instructions will be provided at program orientation meetings. 

Program Orientation

Attendance at the orientation to the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program is required for persons seeking to apply to the sonography program at DACC.  Click here for the Orientation Schedule

Observation Hours

Applicants must complete a minimum of 8 direct observation and/or volunteer hours of sonographic examinations prior to applying to the program. Details  are provided during the program orientation. TEAS Exam

Applicants for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program are required to take the TEAS exam. Note: the program uses the most current version of the exam.

Applicants should be aware that the program allows only one attempt per application period and that applicants must achieve a an overall score of at least 60% to remain a viable candidate. Applicants must schedule this exam with the DACC testing office (575)527-7569 to arrange a testing date and time. TESTING TIMES ARE LIMITED and should be scheduled well in advance of the application deadline of April 1st if possible.

Health Data/Physical Exam

Applicants must have a program Health Profile Form completed by a licensed practitioner and provide verification of all current immunizations. The form will be handed out during orientation.  Note: students are not required to have all of the vaccinations listed on the Health Profile Form at the time of application.  For a copy of the current Health Profile Form Click Here
