Program Overview

Careers in the medical field continue to be some of the fastest growing jobs and with the most openings.  Medical Administrative Assistants, Medical Secretary, and Office Managers are all positions in great demand. This program covers important background information on the medical assisting profession and interpersonal skills, medical ethics and law, medical terminology, basics of insurance billing and coding, telephone techniques, scheduling appointments, medical records management and management of practice finances. This program provides students with a well-rounded introduction to medical administration so that a student can gain the necessary skills required to obtain a medical administrative assistant position in the health care field.  Students will also earn a HIPAA certification, learn about the Medical Administrative Assistant occupation and current job opportunities, as well as be prepared to take the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Medical Administrative Assistant exam ($115).  Program Requirements: HS Diploma, Clear Background Check, Clear Drug Screen

Program Start Dates

Dates:  May 20 – June 28, 2019 (6 weeks)

Times:  8:30 am – 2:00 pm M-F

Location:  DACC Workforce Center, 2345 Nevada Ave.
