Electronic Health Records Management Program

Program Details

Program Overview

As medical offices, clinics and hospitals use electronic versions of patients’ medical history, the occupation of Electronic Health Record Management Technician has emerged as an essential part of the medical provider team. An electronic health record (EHR) includes the key administrative clinical data relevant to a patient’s care under a provider, including demographics, progress notes, problems, medications, and treatments.   Electronic Health Record professionals are educated in the implementation and management of electronic health information using common electronic data interchange systems.   In this program, students will learn through classroom, computer lab training, and hands-on experience in an internship, the necessary components consistent with maintaining the medical, legal, accreditation and regulatory requirements of the electronic health record and database.  Student will also earn a HIPPA certification, learn about the EHR occupation and current job opportunities, as well as be prepared to take the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist (CEHRS) exam.
