Career Readiness

DACC Workforce Development and Career Readiness (WDCR) Department assists DACC students in reaching their full potential and discovering their strengths, career interests, and finding a good career path.  WDCR services include career exploration and planning, assistance with work-based learning experiences (internships and co-ops), career training and development, and graduate and alumni resources.

Career Exploration

Do you want to explore career possibilities and what matches your skills and interests?  Check out Career Coach and make an appointment (online or in person) with a Career Resource Coordinator to discuss the results.

Internships and Co-ops

Work-based learning opportunities such as internships, job shadowing, and co-operative (co-op) experiences increase your ability to make informed career choices, develop professional skills, and obtain work experience to flesh out your résumé. If you need assistance locating an internship or co-op, please contact Bertha Cordova VanMatre for a virtual or in-person meeting.

Trainings

WDCR staff also provide career readiness training and workshops for students via several modes: one-on-one in person or virtually, group settings in person or virtually, and classroom presentations.  Topics for these trainings range from soft skills like communication and leadership to getting the most out of an internship and getting ready to work and preparing resumes and application documents.  Career Resource Coordinators can also help students identify skills they may need to develop to enhance their resumes and applications, such as specific computer skills, problem-solving skills, and customer service skills.

Graduate and Alumni Services

For recent graduates and alumni, WDCR offers support in conducting job searches and applying for jobs.  Career resource coordinators help students sign up for NM Workforce Connections and Indeed accounts to search for employment and upload their resumes.  They practice interviewing techniques and conduct mock interviews to give students feedback on their interview style and communication techniques.
