Developmental Studies

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide developmental education designed to meet individual educational goals and foster lifelong learning.

By providing rigorous curriculum through interdisciplinary instruction that honors and recognizes the academic and workforce needs of our diverse community of lifelong learners,

  • we are student-centered
  • and we encourage students to become risk-taking and self-motivated learners.
Our developmental courses ascribe to the National Association for Developmental Education's philosophy, which is about
"Helping under-prepared students prepare, prepared students advance, and advanced students excel." (NADE 2001-2006)
