General DACC Scholarships

  • Sandra and George Abernathy Endowed Scholarship
    • Established in 2003 by Sandra and George Abernathy for students pursuing a certificate or degree at DACC. This scholarship is eligible for matching Jon Wynne funds at the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico (CFSNM).
      • Must be a NM resident and graduated from a NM high school
      • GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Jagdev & Linda Cheema Scholarship
    • Established in 2017 by Jag and Linda Cheema to support students pursuing a certificate or degree at DACC. The scholarship is eligible for matching Jon Wynne funds at the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico (CFSNM).
      • Must be enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours)
      • Must have completed a minimum of 15 credit hours successfully by the time of this award
      • GPA of 2.0 or better
      • Demonstrate great financial need as determined by FAFSA
      • Must complete a personal statement found in the scholarship application
  • Chuck Davis Second Chance Scholarship
    • Established in 2017 in memory of Chuck Davis by his wife Helen and the entire Davis family. In 2000 Chuck was elected to the Las Cruces Board of Education where he served for 16 years.  During this time he was especially proud of the work he did as one of the school board advisers for Dona Ana Community College.  He really believed that the community college was a way for many students to achieve their dream of higher education and a better future. The scholarship is a second chance for students who have had an interruption in their education or did not enroll in college immediately following high school. The scholarship is eligible for matching Jon Wynne funds at the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico (CFSNM).
      • Must be enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours)
      • GPA of 2.0 or better
      • Demonstrate great financial need as determined by FAFSA
      • must complete a personal statement found in the scholarship application
      • Preference for students of Doña Ana County
  • DACC “Single Parent” Scholarship
    • Established to support single parent students at DACC
      • NM resident
      • Maintaining satisfactory academic progress
  • DACC Endowed Student Scholarship
    • Established in 2008 for residents of Doña Ana County.
      • Must be enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours) 
      • Demonstrate “unmet” need as indicated by FAFSA
      • GPA of 2.0 or better
      • Cannot be receiving any other tuition-based scholarship 
  • DACC Goal Line Scholarship
    • Established in 2017 as support for students in their last semester to complete their Associates or Certificate and have run out of financial aid. The scholarship is eligible for matching Jon Wynne funds at the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico (CFSNM).
      • Enrolled in a  minimum of  6 credit hours
      • GPA of 2.0 or better
      • Demonstrate great financial need as determined by FAFSA
      • must complete a personal statement found in the scholarship application
  • DACC Presidents’ Legacy Scholarship
    • Established in 2013 for DACC’s 40th Anniversary Celebration. This scholarship is eligible for matching Jon Wynne funds at the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico (CFSNM).
      • Resident of Doña Ana County
      • GPA of 3.0 or better
      • There must be an interruption/break in post-secondary education
  • Doña Ana Community College Golf Tournament Scholarship
    • Established to celebrate the accomplishments of students at DACC through the Golf Tournament fundraising event. This scholarship is eligible for matching Jon Wynne funds at the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico (CFSNM).
      • One scholarship awarded for academic excellence in each DACC division
      • Must be enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours)
  • Hatch Valley Scholarship
    • Established in 2004 by the Hatch Valley Doña Ana Community College Steering Committee. This is a renewable scholarship for residents in Northern Doña Ana County. This scholarship is eligible for matching Jon Wynne funds at the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico (CFSNM).
      • First priority to those students enrolled at the DACC Hatch Center
      • Demonstrate financial need as indicated by FAFSA
  • Eleanor Ann Heins Memorial Scholarship
    • Established in 2006.
      • Must have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours at DACC
      • GPA of 2.5 or better 
      • Preference is given to a female, single parent
  • Holguin Current Use Scholarship
    • Established in 2010 by Lou R. Holguin for a student of any program at DACC
      • Financial need as indicated by FAFSA
      • GPA of 2.0 or better
  • Hunt Family Foundation Scholarship
    • Established in 2013 by the Hunt Family Foundation, founded by Woody and Gayle Hunt. These scholarships are matched with earnings from the Jon Wynne Fund at the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico (CFSNM).
      • Enrolled in a  minimum of  6 credit hours
      • GPA of 2.0 or better
      • Demonstrated “great” financial need as determined by FAFSA
  • Ruth B. Kunz Endowed Memorial Scholarship
    • Established in 2005 for outstanding students who completed the English as a Second Language (ESL) program at DACC and enrolled for a two-year degree at DACC.
  • Jorge and Martha Moy Endowed Scholarship
    • Established in 2005 by Jorge and Martha Moy for graduates of a Doña Ana County high school pursuing a degree at DACC.
      • Minimum GPA 3.0
      • Demonstrate financial need as indicated by FAFSA
      • Preference to full-time students
  • Bunford “Bumpy” S. Pelton Gap Scholarship
    • Established in 2017 in memory of Bunford “Bumpy” S. Pelton by his brother Clifford L. Pelton. It was his wish to ease the financial burden of students and hopefully at some time they will pay it forward in honor of Bumpy.
      • Must be enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours)
      • Must have a declared major, or field of study (Vocational, Degree or Certificate programs)
      • Preference shall be given to students who have a gap in the educational sequence between high school and college
  • Jim Putman Second Chance Endowed Scholarship
    • Established in 2008 by Dr. Don and Mrs. Fran Cotter for students who have had an interruption/break in post-secondary education.
      • Program of study that will enable student to enter workforce
      • Must meet federal aid regulations of academic progress
  • Jim Putman Matching Current Use Scholarship
    • Established in 2017 by Dr. Don Cotter to match the Jim Putman Second Chance Scholarship for students who have had an interruption/break in post-secondary education.
      • Program of study that will enable student to enter workforce

  • Omar Sanchez Memorial Current Use Transfer Scholarship (DACC to NMSU)
    • Established in 2014 as one of the first transfer scholarships to start at DACC and finish at NMSU. This scholarship was created to honor the life of Omar Sanchez, a 2013 Crimson Scholar at DACC. This scholarship is eligible for matching Jon Wynne funds at the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico (CFSNM).
      • NMSU-DACC
        • Must be enrolled full-time at NMSU-DACC
        • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by official FAFSA results
        • Must declare intent to pursue a bachelor’s degree at NMSU-Las Cruces as evidenced in the university scholarship application by answers to questions designed to identify such aspirations.
        • Must complete a “Thank You” letter in order to receive scholarship funds
        • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
        • Preference will be given to students who are residents of Doña Ana or Luna Counties
        • Award is renewable as long as all other criteria are met

        NMSU-Las Cruces

        • Must be a transfer or continuing student from NMSU-DACC enrolled full time
        • Must have been a recipient of the Omar Sanchez Memorial Current Use Transfer Scholarship previously
        • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
        • Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree at NMSU
        • Must complete a “Thank You” letter in order to receive scholarship funds
        • NMSU-Las Cruces award is renewable for a maximum of 6 semesters
  • Dr. Larry Sharp “Begin Again” Endowed Scholarship
    • Established in 2012 by Mrs. Jan Sharp’s family and friends for students enrolled in an area of study or training which will enable the student to enter the workforce for greater remuneration and/or rewarding career opportunities. This scholarship is eligible for matching Jon Wynne funds at the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico (CFSNM).
      • Preference is given to students who demonstrate financial need as indicated by FASFA.
  • Sharp Family Current Use Scholarship
    • Established in 2015 by Jan Sharp. This scholarship is given in the Fall and Spring semester. This scholarship is eligible for matching Jon Wynne funds at the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico (CFSNM).
      • Enrolled in a  minimum of  6 credit hours
      • GPA of 2.0 or better
      • Demonstrate great financial need as determined by FAFSA
  • Raymond A. Slattery Memorial Endowed Scholarship
    • Established for the purpose of supporting students pursuing a certificate or degree in vocational education.
  • Manuel Tapia Memorial Current Use Scholarship
    • Established in 2016 in honor of Manuel Tapia, a WWII veteran, and survivor of the D-Day Invasion of Normandy. This scholarship is a gift from one warrior to another. This scholarship is eligible for matching Jon Wynne funds at the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico (CFSNM).
      • Student must be a Disabled American Veteran (DAV) or the spouse or dependent
      • Must be enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours)
  • Wolslager Foundation Scholarship for Doña Ana Community College
    • Established by The Wolslager Foundation for NM residents pursing a degree in Business,  Information Systems, Health and Public Services, or Technical Studies. This Scholarship is renewed yearly.
      • Enrolled Full-time (12+ credit hours)
      • GPA 2.5
      • Must demonstrate financial need as indicated by FAFSA
  • Jon Wynne Scholarship-Community Foundation of Southern NM (DACC)
    • Established in 2013 in honor of Jon Wynne. Jon established a matching scholarship fund at the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico with the purpose to fund scholarships at DACC and requires  DACC to match the funds in equal amounts.
      • Enrolled in a  minimum of  6 credit hours
      • GPA of 2.0 or better
      • Demonstrate great financial need as determined by FAFSA
