The ENLACE High School program is an academic and developmental extension of the ENLACE middle school course and curriculum designed to enhance students’ academic success, graduation, and transition to higher education. The program aims to increase students’ access to peer and professional mentorships, expert teachers and professionals, and a network of community support from the university and community partners. Students in the ENLACE High School courses are provided with culturally relevant learning experiences, academic and community leadership skills building, a network of experts from a variety of fields, authentic support through relationships that greatly increases their chances for success in high school, higher education, and post-graduate academic or professional programs.
The ENLACE program builds on the assets that multi-cultural and multi-lingual students bring with them to class to begin developing college readiness, leadership, and community engagement skills while being exposed to information about and preparation for college and careers. To support this, ENLACE Southern host’s ENLACE College Day visits for both high school and middle school ENLACE students from across the region to visit Doña Ana Community College and New Mexico State University to experience the college campus first-hand and meet and connect with other ENLACE college students, faculty, and staff. These visits exposes ENLACE students to the different academic departments, campus facilities and to establish networking relationships with their future peers and mentors. During these visits ENLACE seniors can submit their applications, meet with Admissions and Financial Aid advisors, and receive answers to any questions or concerns they may have.
