Take a Placement Test

Before meeting with an academic advisor and registering for classes, you must take the COMPASS placement test (unless you've taken the ACT or SAT).

The COMPASS tests your English, reading and math skills. The test is free to incoming students and is offered on the computer at DACC. The average time to take the entire test is about 2 hours, but the test is not timed and you may take as long as you need. Results for the test will be given to you immediately.

Since your COMPASS scores actually determine where you begin in the English, reading and math sequences (including any pre-college level courses) it is a great idea to review the sample test question packet available in the DACC Testing Office, Main Building, Room 116. The better you perform on the COMPASS, the more time, money, and energy you'll save to reach your goal.

To make an appointment for taking the COMPASS, call the Testing Center at (575) 527-7569.
